01 / Functional root-zone substrate

HerbaFertil®

New roots. Renewed tree vitality.

HerbaFertil® is a functional substrate placed precisely in the active root zone. It supports new root growth and improves access to water and nutrients, helping stressed trees recover.

Up to 7 kgof new roots per installed unit within a year

Reported in HerbaFertil field applications; growth depends on the tree, site and aftercare. Field documentation ↗

The role in the system

Support recovery where it begins.

We place HerbaFertil in the active root zone, near smaller roots up to approximately 5–6 mm in diameter. Access points are selected to avoid damage to larger, structural roots. New roots colonise the substrate, increasing the tree’s capacity to take up water and nutrients. Drill 2 Fill is our targeted installation method for existing trees.

Relevant settings

  • New planting pits
  • Selected interventions around existing trees
  • Root zones with constrained soil conditions

How it works

From assessment to follow-up.

  1. 01

    Assess the site

Understand the soil profile, rooting space, drainage and irrigation before selecting the intervention.

  2. 02

    Specify placement

Select the number, position and depth of substrate units for the tree and the available rooting volume.

  3. 03

    Install and follow up

Record the installation, establish an irrigation plan and observe the tree through subsequent growing seasons.

Before you specify

Start with the site information.

Request the current composition, packaging, installation guidance and project quantities. The right specification depends on the tree, soil and water regime.
